NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police have released a photo of the suspect in an attempted rape in Brooklyn.
The incident took place at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday night near South 3rd Street and Berry Street in Williamsburg.
Police say the suspect followed a 36-year-old woman into her building and tried to rape her on the the third floor.
Sources told CBS2 the woman’s 16-year-old son heard her screaming and came to her aid as she was being attacked.
The suspect took off running, sources said.
The son tried chasing the suspect, but his mother pleaded with him not to, and he returned to her, helped her, and called 911, sources said.
The suspect is described as a black man, 25-35 years old, 6’2″, 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket that read “Lincoln St. Mary’s Council 112,” police said.
The woman said the suspect smelled of alcohol.
