Former Edmond band teacher charged with sex crimes for alleged relationship with student

EDMOND, Okla. – A former band director at an Edmond high school was charged Wednesday with soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology.

The director, Cameron Kedy, started teaching at Edmond Memorial High School in 2011.

School officials tell NewsChannel 4 that Kedy resigned in May after allegations surfaced that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Police say the relationship began when the female student was 16-years-old and continued until she graduated in May.

According to court documents, the 16-year-old told police she and Kedy “had sex ‘way less’ than twenty times.”

Investigators say they found numerous text messages between Kedy and the student that contained sexually explicit comments.

Kedy has not been arrested at this point.
