FORT QU’APPELLE, Sask. – Mounties investigated a crop of suspicious-looking plants southeast of Abernathy, Sask. A person reported seeing what they believed to be marijuana being grown in a field on Aug. 9.
Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP located 200 to 300 suspect plants.
The investigation, which included testing of the plants, determined it was hemp.
The RCMP integrated organized crime unit south assisted with the investigation and no charges will be laid.
Officials say there were two similar instances last year in the Saskatoon and Battleford areas. Both investigations concluded that the plants in two different fields were also hemp.
