flared up

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Minott, who was previously a patient of the Bellevue Hospital, was involved in a dispute with the complainant. The complainant was at home when Minott went into the studio and started pulling a table from the room. The complainant tried to stop him but Minott flared up and punched him in the face and started kicking him all over his body.

Minott’s brother told Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey that the accused had been “terrorising” him for a while. Minott responded to his brother by telling him that he should stop carrying down the family name.

The RM asked Minott if he had been taking his medication, to which he responded in the affirmative. She then told him that he could not reside at the house as he was a problem, however, he told the RM that his father had bought all the equipment there and that his brother should not bother him.

Pusey then bounded him over in the custody of his mother and told her that he was not to return to the house where the studio was located.

Minott did not agree and told the RM that she would have to look after him as she was preventing him from earning money. He also told her that he had expensive tastes, dining on Chinese cuisine, among other delicacies.

He said, “everytime we link him, him a say him can’t talk now, can’t deal with that ya now.”

The angry employee told THE STAR that although he was not paid, to his knowledge, some workers were compensated and that others got job placements by another employer.

He said, “The Kingston wharfs required a few of our services the ones that were paid are not working and the ones who were not paid are working with the wharf”

THE STAR was also told that with the intervention of the ministry, meetings have been held, however, progress is still at a snails pace.

When contacted, a former director of the sold shipping company, who apparently is with another shipping agency told THE STAR, “We have no comment on that … .”

The reigning LASCO top cop for 2012-2013, who is facing a rape charge, appeared yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate‘s Court and was offered bail in the sum of $300,000 with a surety.

He is 32-year-old Sergeant Oneil Patterson and he has been ordered to return to court on July 9 for a preliminary inquiry into the matter.

The Crown is alleging that on May 23, he sexually assaulted a 29-year-old medical doctor in his motor car on the compound of the Elletson Road Police Station in Kingston.

It is further alleged that the accused and the complainant had gone on a date when the incident took place.

Attorney-at-law Tamika Harris, in making the bail application, said Patterson was not a flight risk. She said he would not interfere with the witness and regarded his reputation too dear to jeopardise it. She also told the court that Patterson was willing to answer to the allegations.

Patterson was charged this week following a ruling by the director of public prosecutions.
